A Few Things

20 February 2020
In first grade it is always important to know which holiday is next on the calendar, haha.  My students are always excited when we have a special day coming up so I am doing my best to be prepared.  After I took down my Valentine's Day decor, as well as the Presidents' Day stuff, I got out the St. Patrick's Day box and set to work to create some fun themed activities for my little learners..  Here is what I have to share with you so far.  And, spoiler alert, more is in the works so stay tuned!

My students had such fun with my Valentine's Day puzzles that I decided to create a St. Patrick's Day version.  This inexpensive packet has four scenes and a variety of puzzles including the following: skip counting straight cut, traditional jigsaw, easy-cut, and puzzle keys.   PLUS I have included black/white versions of ALL of them so that you can save on some ink or have your students color them.

My first graders are so proud of their puzzles, especially when they color them themselves!

I've also created a fun little file folder game that I plan to use during math centers.  There is a version with addition equations within 10 as well as one with addition equations within 20.

Click HERE for the puzzles and HERE for the file folder game.  Happy Teaching!

Lucky Charms Graphing Freebie

15 March 2016
Hello, friends!  I apologize for the silence on the blog as of late.  You see, I kind of had my first baby (hurray!) and am spending every waking moment with his darling little self.

Cute stuff, right?  He is the sweetest thing and James and I are just crazy about him. My six week maternity leave was full of cuddles and sleepy sweetness.

Unfortunately though real life has to set back in at some point and I am back at work.  It has been beyond hard, but while I am certainly missing my sweet baby, it has been nice to be with my sweet first graders again.

This week we will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day and I've created a free little graphing activity that you are welcome to use if you like!  My students have always enjoyed sorting out their Lucky Charms, collecting their data, and representing it in a bar graph.  I hope that you and your students enjoy this as well!

The March Packet, a Giveaway, and a Crazy Big Sale!

26 February 2014

Hello!  And happy almost March to you!  I am a winter-lover, but I confess I have never been more ready for warmth and sunshine.  I'm pretty sure my vitamin D is at an all time low so I'm ready for the sun!  And flowers.  And spring break.  Yay!

Anyway, on to the point of this post...I'm excited to present my sixth monthly packet, The March Packet!

I've had such a fun time creating these monthly packets for my students (and for you!) and, while I know I've said this before, I'm positive this is my best one yet!  It is chock full of easy-to-assemble activities and quick printables to meet your March needs!  Here are a few of my favorite pages and activities!

Leprechaun Measurement!  Students use a variety of units to measure a leprechaun.

Roll and Cover!  Students use dice to roll and cover (or color) that number.  This is always good practice for my kids!

Measure that Leprechaun! Students measure leprechauns of varying sizes with the same unit and compare their results.  You can use any unit you like, but chocolate gold coins make anything extra exciting! :)

Ordering Shamrocks! Students draw 5 cards from the shamrock pile and put them in order from least to greatest.

Lucky Measurement!  Students use the leprechaun hats for their units of measurement (these come in a color version or a black/white version to save on ink!) and measure a few common classroom items.

Pots of Tens and Ones.  Students draw a gold pot from the pile and draw a representation of that number.  This is great practice for that tricky double-digit addition stuff. :)

I love math tasks that involve food! Students scoop out a 1/4 cup of lucky charms, sort them, graph them, and then compare their data!

Label the Leprechaun.  It is always good to revisit labeling and the kids seem to love it!

...okay, let me show just a few more pages!

This cute bonus "March" bunting is included, too!

Okay, that is probably more than you wanted to see!  The March Packet will be discounted through the rest of the month, not to mention that the big TPT sale is tomorrow so it will be SUPER discounted!  Grab it now for cheaps!  And if you are interested in any of my other monthly packets, click below!

Oh, and I almost forgot...I would love to give away a few of these packets for free!  Leave a comment by March 1st and tell me which packet you would like.  I'll randomly select a few winners and email you a packet! Have a great night!
